Methodology
How we score
Roundup sites rank whatever pays best. We score on the same rubric every time and tell you exactly what goes into it, so you can trust the order.
The Fit Score
Every product gets a 0–10 score in five categories. The overall Fit Score is the average.
- Comfort
- Underarm pad and hand-grip cushioning, and how the pair feels over a long day rather than a quick try in a store.
- Stability
- Frame strength, weight capacity, and tip grip, how steady and secure it feels when you put your weight through it.
- Portability
- Weight per crutch, whether it folds, and how easy it is to carry, stow, or pack for travel.
- Ease of use
- Height adjustment (push-button vs wing-nut), whether it ships assembled, and day-to-day handling on floors and stairs.
- Value
- What you get for the price, including build quality, weight capacity, warranty, and the included pads and tips.
How we keep it honest
- We score on the rubric above, the same way for every product. Affiliate commissions never change a score or a ranking.
- We weigh different needs separately, so a budget model can win "best value" without pretending it's the most comfortable.
- We disclose affiliate relationships clearly and update picks as products and prices change.
About our scores: our Fit Scores are editorial estimates built from each product's documented specs, design, and reputation, not hands-on lab tests. We say so plainly rather than claim testing we haven't done. Always follow your clinician's or physical therapist's guidance for your specific needs. See our disclosure.
